Garden Design for Small Spaces

Water wise close up

I enjoy designing spaces, I do garden design and spaces always have their own challenge.  Large, small, oddly shaped, beautifully appointed they all require a fresh eye but they all can be worked with just by using some basic principles of garden design.

I use these design principles over and over again for water wise gardens, family gardens, relaxing quiet spaces, outdoor rooms and more.  If you have good design, your space will take on a new dimension and will feel perfectly comfortable for you, your family and your guests.

Inspiration

Last year I wrote an article on Small Space Garden Design, and since I am going to be speaking at a garden club on Monday about Garden Design for Small Spaces I thought it would be good to re-run the post so that my new gardener friends could easily access it.  I am looking forward to sharing this great information, and if you have a garden club or a group of friends – I’d be happy to come meet with you about this or a variety of subjects.

In the article I outline seven strategies that you can use to create a beautiful garden design for a small space or really for any space.

The seven strategies are:

  1. Color
  2. Texture
  3. Specific Japanese Techniques
  4. Thinking Vertically
  5. Decorating your space
  6. Lighting
  7. Making it your own

Here is the link to the original article, Small Space Garden Design, I hope you enjoy it.

Please enjoy the article, and take a tip or two into your own garden.
